PRIVACY POLICY

The European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) came into force on May 25th, 2018 and has major implications worldwide. European citizens now have multiple digital rights over their personal details, including the right to be asked to provide consent for the storage of personal details in a database, the right to be asked to provide consent to be contacted, the right to see the personal information stored, the right to be forgotten including having all personal details permanently removed from a database, the right to know who this information is shared with (consent is also required for this), and the right to be contacted should a significant data breach occur. All of these changes must be prospectively acknowledged by the user and cannot be presumed to have occurred. The proof rests with the websites to be able to demonstrate consent has been obtained. It is likely almost all websites in the world will move to this model, unless they wish to limit access to European citizens, which would be difficult technically.

What information do we collect about you?

When registering to GEEW (Gastroenterology and Endotherapy European Workshop), either individually or through a third party (travel agent, pharmaceutical industry company, hospital authorities, colleague etc), we collect some basic information about you, namely your full name, title, affiliation, email address, birthdate (in case you register as a trainee), invoicing address. This is required to send you your registration confirmation and provide you with a correct name badge, certificate of attendance, CME certificate, invoice for registration fee, vouchers for attending some optional functions and, if requested, a letter of invitation for visa purposes. We also use your email address to keep you informed about our activities and share some scientific content through newsletters.

How do we collect this information?

Your details are collected using the GEEW registration page or through information you provided on the offline registration form either through information you completed yourself or through information provided by the third party in charge of your registration. Our contact persons of our Industrial partners are also included in our mailing lists (only first, last name and email address).

How will we use the information about you?

Your information is used to send the GEEW newsletter and to inform you about the current and future GEEWs. It is also used to manage your registration in a proper way and issue the relevant documents confirming your participation.

Who is your information shared with?

GEEW newsletters are sent via MailJet, a standard commercial emailing facility, which have access to your email address for this purpose only. They DO NOT receive your personal contact details.

Who is your information shared with?

GEEW is organized by ASBL Gastro-Entérologie et Endothérapie, a non-profit organization based in Brussels, Belgium. The organizing secretariat includes 1 people only: Mrs Nancy Beauprez, Course Coordinator. She is the sole person who has credits to access our database. A list of participants can be shared with the Course Director and Organizing Committee members upon their request.

No list of participants is provided to industrial partners nor before nor after the event. The only information we could provide them is statistics of attendance (number of participants per country), but never your full contact details.

Marketing

We do not share your details with any third parties and we do not share or sell your details with commercial parties for the purpose of them contacting you independently of GEEW, even in case of promoting any “Industry sponsored” symposium held on the occasion of GEEW.

Access to your information and correction

You have the right to request a copy of the information that we hold about you by contacting us. Similarly, if you think that your details are incorrect, or you would like to update them, you can do so by contacting us at nancy.beauprez@erasme.ulb.ac.be.

Right to be forgotten

If you wish for your details to be removed from our database please contact us : nancy.beauprez@erasme.ulb.ac.be. By asking to be fully removed from our database, you agree implicitly that you may not register anymore to next GEEWs.

Brussels Booking Desk, as an independant non-profit organisation has its own Privacy Policy that can be consulted on their website during your hotel reservation.
