Training in Endoscopy
The accelerating developments in gastrointestinal endoscopy have increased the need and demand for structured post-graduate training. Our department offers different training programs in various domains of therapeutic endoscopy. This takes place in the setting of ongoing patient care, so that the emphasis is equally on the technical aspects as well as on the role of the procedure in the overall management plan for the patient. Additionally, the opportunity exists to conduct clinical research during the training period.
Two training modalities are available for physicians who have already completed their fellowship in gastroenterology :
- Hands-on training during which, after a period of observation, the trainee performs procedures of increasing difficulty under expert supervision. The minimum stay required for this type of training is 12 months.
In order to apply for a training program in our department, some prerequisites are necessary. Moreover, as contact with patients is involved, the candidates should be able to speak French.
There is no fee asked for these trainings but fellows must be self-supported. In selected cases, help for accommodation can be provided.
For further information you may download the following documents :
- Hands-off training is for shorter stays and implies following the procedures only as an observer.
In this case, you have to provide your CV, a letter from your chief of GI addressed to the Medical Director of our institution requesting your acceptance as well as a document certifying that your candidature has not previously been turned down by the licensing jury.
